Telangana suffers Rs 1400 Cr loss in floods; seeks Rs 1000 Cr from Centre

Telangana: It is official, Telangana suffered RS 1400 crore loss in recent devastating floods. The state government has submitted a proposal to the Centre seeking Rs 1000 crore immediate financial assistance.

An official spokesman said the government presented the report with about flood-related damages to the centre. The government requested the Centre to extend Rs 1000 crore as immediate financial assistance. Giving sector-wise details, the spokesman said the Roads and Building department incurred a loss of Rs 498 in the floods. Panchayat Raj wing suffered Rs 449 crore loss. The irrigation department suffered Rs 33 crore. Municipal Administration suffered s 379 crore and Energy department - Rs 7 crore.

The respective departments prepared the preliminary estimates and presented the report to the Centre.

The spokesman said another Rs 25 crore loss was suffered on account of damages to the houses and other structures. Huge money was also spent on shifting of flood affected people and setting up shelter camps
