COVID-19: TS to conduct fever survey from 21 Jan

Hyderabad: Telangana health minister T. Harish Rao on Thursday announced that the state government will start conducting fever survey from 21 January. He said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has directed officials to take all necessary steps to protect people from COVID-19.

Municipal and panchayat officials along with health personnel will be involved in the survey and will go to every home. Home isolation kits will be given to those who show symptoms and their health will be monitored throughout the day. They will be transferred to the nearest government hospital if necessary.

"The government had conducted a fever survey during the second wave of the coronavirus and home isolation kits were distributed then as well. Recently, Niti Ayog published a report and called the fever survey one of the best practices to tackle COVID-19," said Mr. Rao.

He also said that the government has provided two crore testing kits and one crore home isolation kits. These were distributed to the PHCs.

"Local public representatives should also participate in the survey programme and make it a success. Let's conduct tests in each house, identify the symptoms in advance, and start treatment in a timely manner," said the minister.

Testing will be conducted at all basti dispensaries under GHMC and kits will be distributed. All basti dispensaries will be open till 2 p.m on Sunday till the COVID-19 cases drop, Mr. Rao added.
