Telangana’s Master Plan 2050: Officials discuss draft mobility framework and feedback

Hyderabad: Inter-agency coordination and feedback on the draft comprehensive mobility plan for Master Plan 2050 were discussed by senior officials of the urban transport department of Telangana.

Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is the key stakeholder and the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) is being prepared as an integral part of the proposed Master Plan 2050 for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Area (HMA).

Focus on sustainable transport strategy

The CMP 2050’s primary aim is to establish an efficient, safe and sustainable transport network to address the mobility demands of the rapidly growing Hyderabad Metropolitan Region. It will also guide future investments and support balanced urban development.

The plan is designed to develop a sustainable, long-term transport strategy and identify effective investment programs, aligning with the National Urban Transport Policy (NUTP) 2006/2014 and other existing plans of HMDA, GHMC, HMRL and related stakeholder agencies.

The meeting was convened at the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited under the chairmanship of Sarfaraz Ahmed, IAS, metropolitan commissioner, HMDA.

Call for inter-agency coordination and feedback

During the meeting, Sarfaraz Ahmed, IAS, emphasised the critical importance of inter-agency coordination. He directed all stakeholder departments to thoroughly review the Draft Comprehensive Mobility Plan Report. The departments were instructed to submit their feedback, suggestions, and departmental recommendations for incorporation and updation into the final CMP Report.
