Transfer 222.27 acres of land to Telangana for Bapu Ghat: CM Revanth to Rajnath Singh

New Delhi: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has requested Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to transfer 222.27 acres of land to the state government.

This land is being utilized to develop Bapu Ghat at the confluence of Isa and Musi rivers in Hyderabad city.

The Chief Minister briefed Rajnath Singh about his government’s decision to develop Bapu Ghat, where Mahatma Gandhi's ashes are immersed, into a center for promoting Gandhian philosophy at the global level.




The CM met the Defence Minister in Delhi on Tuesday evening. CM Revanth Reddy explained to the Union Minister about the “ Gandhi Sarovar project, “ which will be developed by establishing a knowledge hub, meditation center, handloom promotion center, public entertainment places, landscaped ghats, a statue of peace, and museums at the Bapu Ghat.

The CM requested Rajnath Singh to transfer the defence land to the government for taking up the prestigious project in Hyderabad.

Industrial and transport development :

CM Revanth Reddy briefed Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu about the Industrial development in Telangana and also the special attention paid by the government to improve transport facilities for people in the state. The Chief Minister called on Rammohan Naidu in Delhi on Tuesday evening.

The CM said that the state government obtained a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from GMR (a condition that there should be a distance of 150 km from one airport to another) for setting up an airport in Warangal, the second largest city in Telangana.

The CM said Rs. 205 crore required for the acquisition of 253 acres of land has been handed over to the Aviation Authority of India (AAI). The Union Minister has been requested to take the necessary steps to get the necessary permissions for the airport work and operate flights from there.

The CM informed Rammohan Naidu that the previously identified land for the establishing airport in Bhadradri Kothagudem district was not suitable and hence 950 acres have been identified in Paloncha as an alternative. The details of the particular land have been provided to AAI, CM said requesting the Union Minister to immediately grant permission for the airport.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also brought to the notice of the Union Minister about the outcome of the AAI pre-feasibility survey which disclosed that the previously identified land in Peddapalli district is not suitable for the construction of an airport. As an alternative, the state government identified 591.24 acres of land at Antargam. The CM requested the Minister to grant permission to establish an airport there.

The Chief Minister told Rammohan Naidu that the Indian Air Force (IAF) already possessed 369.50 acres of land in Adilabad and an additional 249.82 acres is required for full-scale operations. The state government is ready to acquire the additional land and hand over it to the ministry. The CM requested the Union Minister to immediately grant an airport to Adilabad, which has a large tribal population.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, MPs Ch Kiran Kumar Reddy, K. Raghuveer Reddy, M. Anil Kumar Yadav, R. Raghuram Reddy, Dr. Kadiyam Kavya, and others are also present during the CM’s meeting with the union ministers.
