Chief Minister K Chandrasekar Rao participated in the mass recital event at the statue of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru near Abids GPO Circle.
Minister Harish Rao, Minister Mallareddy, and MLA Mynampally Hanmantha Rao also participated in the mass national anthem program organized at Mysammaguda Mallareddy University as part of the 75th Independence Day celebrations.
After unveiling the national flag, around 30 thousand students sang the national anthem.
The mass recital of the national anthem is a part of the two-week Swatantra Bharata Vajrotsavalu programme on Tuesday.
The functioning of all offices, educational institutions, public and private establishments, shopping malls, cinema theatres and even traffic will be stalled during the recital of national anthem.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police halted all the traffic at signalled junctions and also at junctions manned by traffic police.
The national anthem was played in all public address systems at 11.30 a.m.
Additionally, Hyderabad metro trains were also stopped for a minute at 11.30 a.m on 16 August and the national anthem will be played on the trains and at metro stations.
