Hyderabad: Telangana health minister Harish Rao Thanneeru on Sunday said as many as 1,00,000 people have shown fever-like symptoms out of the approximately 29 lakh surveyed in the last two days. He was taking part in the ongoing fever survey in Bharati Nagar.

The minister said everyone has been given home isolations kits. "Some people are not coming forward even though they are displaying symptoms. They are trying to treat themselves on their own by taking random medicines. This isn't the right way," he said adding that the home isolation kit is extremely efficient."With the help of the kit, anyone can get better in only five days," he explained.

He added, "Those from poor families need not go to corporate hospitals and waste their money. With the help of the ongoing fever survey, necessary medication will be given by the government." He requested people to cooperate with the fever survey.

He said that apart from health officials, several other officials such as corporators, counselors, and panchayat raj and municipal officials are also participating in the survey. Mr. Rao said that anyone who has a cold, fever, cough, and body pains should reach out to the medical officers.

"Pregnant women with coronavirus infection need not worry. We have made special arrangements across the state for the treatment of pregnant women," the minister said. He further added that all necessary medicines and oxygen have been kept ready. "The survey will be fully completed in the next three-four days," he said.

He also pointed out that COVID-19 cases are dropping in states like West Bengal, Odisha, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. "With the help of the public's cooperation and the home isolation kits, cases will also drop in Telangana," he said.

The minister also instructed people to go to their nearest government hospital should they suffer from severe symptoms. He thanked all health workers and other officials for working tirelessly to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
