TS government gives nod for setting up first-of-its-kind 'Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam'

The government has amended Telangana Universities Act, 1991. Under the new order, the existing Women's College, Koti will be upgraded into Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (women’s university).

Hyderabad: Telangana government has issued a formal order to establish the first-of-its-kind Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam in the state. The government has amended Telangana Universities Act, 1991. Under the new order, the existing Women's College, Koti will be upgraded into Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (women's university). Presently, Koti Women's College is under the administrative control of Osmania University.

"Government after the careful examination has accepted the recommendations of the Committee for the establishment of a new State University namely Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam ( Women's University ) by up-gradation of the existing Women's College, Koti, Hyderabad to that of a University in Telangana State from the academic year 2022-23 and decided to amend the Schedule of the Telangana Universities Act, 1991," the order said

The government has decided to transfer the assets including the teaching and nonteaching posts of Women's College Koti, from the administrative control of Osmania University to the newly formed Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam.

The government said it had decided to create new courses along with new departments, sanction teaching, and non-teaching staff, and also to extend financial support and infrastructure development.
