TS HC orders Kotha Cheruvu FTL fencing; suspends road construction work

By Newsmeter Network Published on 18 Feb 2023 5:26 AM GMTTelangana: Telangana High Court has directed Nirmal District Collector to fence the entire area of the Full Tank Level (FTL) of Kotha Cheruvu and ensure that there is no encroachment.
A division bench of Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. Tukaramji asked the Collector to suspend the road construction work at Kotha Cheruvu FTL till March 17.
The Court also issued notices to the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretaries, Revenue Department, Irrigation and Command Development, TS, Chief Engineer, TS Minor Irrigation, District Collector, Nirmal,
Special government pleader Parsha Nageshwar Rao argued that District Collector, Nirmal, has sanctioned Rs. 2.58 lakh for the purpose of fencing the FTL area. He said the 40-year-old road is being widened for public utility. He prayed for adjournment till Monday.

He said the Court had directed the District Collector, Nirmal to remove the lateritic soil/clay which was dumped on the tank bed area and FTL limits of Kotha Cheruvu/ Naya Talab and fence the area.
Without adhering to the orders of the Court, the District Collector has gone ahead with the laying of the road resulting in the shrinking of the lake thereby reducing its area.
The case was adjourned till March 17.
