16 police officers from Punjab, 19 officers from Delhi, 4 from Jammu and Kashmir and 11 from Maharashtra are the other officers who received the award.

He is among the 13 police officers from Telangana who received the award and is the only IPS officer from the state.
The other officers from the state who received the award are Kaitha Ravinder Reddy (Dy.SP), Mogulla Venkateshwar Goud (Inspector), Kukudapu Srinivasulu (SI), Mohammed Akhter Pasha (SI), Pandey Jithender Prasad (SI), Syed Abdul Kareem (SI), Sanugommula Rajavardhan Reddy (Head Constable), Mohammed Taj Pasha (HC), Mohammed Fareeduddin (Police Constable), Bachula Laxminarayana (PC), Kodgal Kiran Kumar (PC), and Syed Zia Ul Haq (PC).

Instituted in 2018, the Union Home Minister's Special Operation Medal is conferred on the members of the state or union territory police forces, Central Police Organizations (CPOs)/Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and security organizations throughout the country to recognize only those operations, which have high degree of planning, high significance for the security of the country/State/UT and have significant impact on security of large sections of the society. The award shall be considered for special operation in the areas such as terrorism, border action, arms control, prevention of narcotics smuggling and rescue operations.
The awards were announced on 31 October, on the day of Sardar Vallabhai Patel's death anniversary.
