TS prohibits rallies, mass gatherings till Jan 10; mask penalty to be strictly enforced

Hyderabad: In view of the increasing threat of Omicron in the state and the country, the government of Telangana on Saturday prohibited rallies, public gatherings, and mass gatherings of all types, including religious, political, and cultural, till 10 January.

The government has urged all citizens to strictly comply with rules like wearing masks, physical distancing, frequent sanitization of premises, provision for hand hygiene, and screening at entry points with IR thermometers/thermal scanners in public transport, shops, malls, establishments, and offices.




It has been directed to strictly impose the earlier order imposing a fine of Rs.1,000 on people found not wearing masks in public places.

Schools and educational institutions have been directed to ensure that all staff and students wear masks and follow COVID-appropriate behaviour. Senior citizens and persons with co-morbidities have been advised to take caution against the virus.
