TS records 21% increase in COVID-19 cases; positivity rate 2.7%

Hyderabad: Telangana reported 2,983 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths on 18 January. On 17 January, the state had reported 2,447 cases.

The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 22,472 while the total number of cases reported so far stands at 7,14,639.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) reported the highest number of cases (1,206) in the last 24 hours followed by Medchal-Malkajgiri (259), Rangareddy (227), and Hanumakonda (118).

A total of 2,706 people recovered from coronavirus statewide in a span of 24 hours taking the overall recoveries so far to 6,88,105 constituting a recovery rate of 96.29%.

COVID-19 testing in the state increased from 80,138 samples to 1,07,904 samples during the past 24 hours. The results of 13,895 swab samples are awaited. The test positivity rate as of now stands at 2.7%. A total of 3,08,17,562 COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state since the outbreak of the pandemic.

A total of 2,93,843 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines were administered on Tuesday. Around 66,335 were the first dose, 2,11,425 were the second dose, and 16,083 were the booster dose.
