NSUI has filed a written petition in Telangana High Court seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the Assistant Engineer examination paper leak.

NSUI Telangana President Dr. Balmoori Venkat Narsing Rao approached the court seeking a direction for the CBI probe.

TSPSC had held the examination for the posts of Assistant Engineers recently. However, the exam was canceled after the question paper was leaked. P. Praveen Kumar, working as an Assistant Section Officer in the TSPSC, was named as the main conspirator.

A case was registered at the Begum Bazar Police Station on March 11 under Section 409 IPC and Section 4 of the Telangana Public Examination (Prevention of Malpractices and Unfair Means), Act 1977. Assistant Secretary Administration, TSPSC, had filed the police complaint.

Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City had transferred the case to the Special Investigation Team headed by the Additional Commissioner of Police Crimes.

Petitioner contended that this is not the first time that the question paper of a competitive examination has been leaked. He said such incidents have occurred frequently. He said it has deprived aspiring candidates of an opportunity to get a government job.

“This is an organized crime, which is being committed in connivance with the staff of TSPSC,” he said.

He said paper leaks in the TSPSC will demoralize the young aspiring candidates. “To thwart such incidents in the future, an independent agency like CBI should probe paper leak issue,” he added.

As the SIT constituted by the CP, Hyderabad has not yet commenced the probe, the petitioner seeks a direction for a CBI probe.

The petition will come up for hearing on March 20.
