Union Budget 2022: SCR allotted Rs. 9,125 cr

By Newsmeter Network Published on 3 Feb 2022 2:50 PM GMTHyderabad: The Union Budget 2022-23 has allotted the South Central Railway (SCR) Rs. 9,125 crore to lay new lines, double lines, third lines, and for electrification works. This is nearly 30% more than the funds allocated for the year 2021-22 which was Rs. 7,049 crore.
For double lines, third lines, and bypass line works, the total budgetary grant is Rs. 5,517 crore, an increase from Rs. 4,238 crore in 2021-22. For new lines, the total budgetary grant is Rs. 5,517 crore. It was Rs. 4,238 crore last year. This year's budget has allocated Rs. 791 crore for electrification works which was Rs. 617 crore last year.
Allocations have also been made for other important projects across the zone. Rs. 325 crore have been sanctioned for station development works; Rs. 45 crore for the periodic overhaul (POH) workshop at Kazipet; Rs. 70 crore for the development of a satellite terminal at Cherlapally station; Rs. 58 crore for the Midlife Rehabilitation factory at Kurnool; Rs. 3 crore for the development of the south-side entry at Tirupati railway station; Rs. 6.5 crore for the development of the Tiruchanur railway station; and Rs. 7 crore for the construction of a new crossing station between Umdanagar-Timmapur stations.
SCR, one of the 18 zones of the Indian Railways, covers Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Telangana has been allocated Rs. 3,048 crore for the state's infrastructure projects and safety. This is 26% more than the funds allocated in 2021-22 which was Rs. 2,420 crore. Andhra Pradesh received Rs. 7,032 crore in this year's budget for infrastructure projects.It had received Rs. 5,812 crore in 2021-22.
