Vikas Raj appointed the new CEO of Telangana

Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India on Wednesday appointed IAS officer Vikas Raj as the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Telangana. Dr. Shashank Goel was the previous CEO of the state.

Pramod Kumar, Principal Secretary, Election Commission of India (ECI) in the order said, "The Election Commission of India in consultation with the Government of Telangana hereby designates Sh. Vikas Raj, IAS (TG: 1992) as the Chief Electoral Officer for the State of Telangana with effect from the date he takes over charge and until further orders in place of Dr. Shashank Goel, IAS."

The ECI order directed Vikas Raj to cease holding all other government positions and handover the same before assumption of office.

Vikas Raj will not hold any other additional charge under the government of Telangana except that he will be designated as the Secretary to the government, who will be incharge of the election department in the state secretariat.
