Telangana High Court cancels bail to Erra Gangi Reddy

Telangana: In another major development in YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case, the Telangana High Court has revoked the bail of Erra Gangireddy, who is the prime accused in the case.

The High Court directed Erra Gangireddy to surrender before the CBI Court by May 5 or face the arrest.

On Thursday, the Telangana High Court Single Bench of Justice Chillakur Sumalatha pronounced the orders in the plea filed by CBI to cancel the default bail granted to Erra Gangi Reddy by the JMFC Court, Pulivendula, Kadapa, AP, who is A1 in the YS Viveka Murder case.

Public Prosecutor Nagender in his argument for the CBI stated that it was Erra Gangi Reddy who hatched the conspiracy to kill YS Viveka, and he played a key role in its execution. He also played a key role in tampering the evidence at the crim3 scene.

It is said that if the key accused is out, the investigation will be affected. Hence, CBI sought Gangireddy's bail cancellation.

However, Seshadri Naidu, the counsel arguing on behalf of Gangi Reddy, informed the court that the CBI had tried several times to cancel his default bail, but failed. Even the Supreme Court had not mentioned cancelling the bail. They appealed to the bench that Gangireddy had nothing to do with the murder issue.

Complete investigation in two months

The Telangana High Court also clarified that the CBI investigation in the Viveka murder case should be completed within two months and Gangi Reddy's bail stands cancelled only till June 30.

Further, Justice Chillakur Sumalatha directed the trial court that he could be granted bail again after July 1.

It is known that Vivekaā€™s murder case was first investigated by the SIT set up by the Andhra Pradesh government. SIT affidavit was not filed against Gangireddy even after 90 days. Accordingly, an affidavit must be filed against the accused within 90 days. Otherwise bail is granted on technical grounds.

On June 27, 2019, the Pulivendula court granted bail to Gangireddy and he came out of jail.
