Telangana HC grants interim relief to MP YS Avinash Reddy citing mother’s illness in Viveka murder case.

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court Vacation Bench comprising Justice M. Laxman on Saturday heard the pre-arrest bail petition filed by MP Avinash Reddy in the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case.

The CBI public prosecutor from New Delhi, Anil Tanwar, said that as per the CBI investigation, Mr. Avinash Reddy is behind the gruesome murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy. He said politics was the main motive behind the murder, and there was political enmity between Mr. Avinash and Vivekananda Reddy. It’s a pre-planned murder orchestrated and executed by MP Avinash Reddy, the CBI counsel argued.

Mr. Tanwar further said when the murder took place, the MP knew the news well before it came out. Mr. Avinash left his home by 6 a.m. for Jammalamadugu to campaign without any scheduled programme. Moreover, Mr. Avinash was roaming around the nearby places. As soon as he receives the message of Vivekananda Reddy’s murder from his PA G.V. Krishnamurthy, within minutes, Mr. Avinash reached the murder spot and tried to destroy the evidence, he added.

“It’s true that the CBI is close to tracing the facts behind the murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy, and knowing this, Mr. Avinash is running away from the CBI investigation on one pretext or another,” said the CBI counsel.

He asked how the CBI can conduct an investigation when Mr. Avinash is running away and not cooperating with the investigation. Mr. Tanwar informed the court that the MP was doing all this knowing that he will be arrested. Mr. Avinash is escaping and running away from the CBI investigation, he said.

Further, the CBI counsel informed the court that the investigation is in a crucial stage. He said the CBI is against the pre-arrest bail petition and requested the court not to grant it to the MP as this may cause hindrance to the CBI investigation.

After hearing the arguments, Justice M. Laxman granted the CBI’s plea to submit the witness testimonies behind a sealed cover.

The Bench said the final verdict on Mr. Avinash’s anticipatory bail petitions will be pronounced on 31 May.

The court has mandated that until 31 May, no coercive action should be taken against Mr. Avinash by the CBI, considering the health condition of his mother, who is undergoing bypass surgery in AIG Hospital, Jubilee Hills.

The High Court questioned the basis of the accusations made against Mr. Avinash Reddy throughout the hearing. The CBI responded by claiming that the accusations were supported by witness testimony. The High Court granted the CBI’s plea to submit the witness testimonies behind a sealed cover.
