Viveka murder: SC forms new SIT, sets 30 April deadline to complete probe
The court has constituted a new SIT as it was not satisfied with the pace of the probe

With the directions of the apex court, the CBI has appointed a six-member team to speed up the investigation into the murder case under the leadership of Keshav Ram Chaurasia, the deputy inspector general of CBI. The present investigation officer, Ram Singh, has been replaced with a new team.
The court has constituted a new SIT as it was not satisfied with the pace of the probe. It may be recalled that the court had earlier asked the CBI to change the investigating officer in the murder case keeping in view the slow and improper probe.
The DIG rank officer Keshav Ram Chaurasia will lead the new team to speed up the investigation. The team includes one SP rank officer, one ASP rank officer, two inspectors, and a sub-inspector. The Supreme Court also directed the CBI to bring out the larger conspiracy involved in the murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy, who was a former minister, MP, and paternal uncle of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
It may be recalled that YS Vivekananda Reddy was found murdered in his home at Pulivendula in YSR Kadapa district on 14 March 2019, days before the general elections in 2019. The case turned several twists and Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy and his father Bhaskar Reddy are also facing allegations for their involvement in the murder.
Dr. Suneetha Reddy, the daughter of YS Vivekananda Reddy and cousin of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, moved the apex court seeking a detailed investigation into the murder case. She sought directions to shift the trial of her fatherās murder case to another state and to directly monitor the investigation and she also sought directions that all the witnesses in the case be given police protection and urged a speedy investigation and trial of the case.
Dr. Suneetha, in her plea, said that even after more than three years of the murder, there is no progress in the investigation so far.
