Hyderabad: A Telangana High Court Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. Tukaramji on Friday issued notices to the state chief secretary, secretary of animal husbandry and dairy development, and Jogulamba Gadwal district collector.

The Division Bench directed them to respond to the notices duly furnishing information on the spread of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in cattle and steps taken to stop the further spread of the disease in other districts of the state.

The Division Bench was adjudicating the suo motu PIL, converting the letter of R. Kambaiah, a law student from Gadwal, informing the court that LSD is fast spreading in cattle and is rampant in Alampur constituency - Shantinagar, Jogulamba Gadwal, Gattu Kaloor, Thimman Doddi, and in Dharur mandal.

Further, he stated in the letter that if steps are not taken to eradicate LSD, there is a possibility of it spreading to other districts of Telangana. Moreover, it will prove fatal for the cattle and the state has not even taken any remedial measures/steps to curtail this disease.

The matter was adjourned to 8 June.
