Why did not you fill up vacancies at GMH Koti? Telangana HC asks govt
The Court had previously appointed advocate Kiran Mayee as Amicus Curiae and asked him to take stock of the things

Hyderabad: Telangana High Court on Wednesday pulled up the state government for not filling up vacancies at Government Maternity Hospital (GMH) at Koti, Hyderabad.
A division bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice J. Srinivas Rao said out of 244 sanctioned posts in various cadres, 100 are still lying vacant.
The government pleader said that on August 24, 2024, the government transferred civil surgeon (pediatrics) Dr. Siddharth from Niloufer Hospital to the Government Maternity Hospital at Koti, Hyderabad.
The GP said that he would submit an affidavit regarding the appointments at Government Maternity Hospital, Koti in the next hearing.
The Court was hearing the PIL of 2016 regarding the pathetic conditions faced by the patients and their attendants at the hospital.
The Court had previously appointed advocate K. Kiran Mayee as Amicus Curiae and asked him to take stock of the things at the hospital and submit a report.
Kiran Mayee pointed out that seating arrangements are required to be made in the lobby area of the new building and the vacancies are required to be filled up yet in the Hospital.
Moreover, the hospital administration started asking patients to fill up feedback forms at the time of discharge so that shortcomings could be identified and resolved.
Recently, the government made 485 beds available for patients. Besides, oxygen cylinders are also being provided. A milk bank has also been set up.
The matter has been adjourned for four weeks.
