Hyderabad: Demanding the introduction of the Women's Reservation Bill in the upcoming parliament session, Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC and the president of Bharat Jagruti Kalvakuntla Kavitha will hold a one-day peaceful sit-down protest on March 10 at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
On March 10, representatives from women's organisations from all 29 states will join the protest and demand reservations for women in legislative bodies.
Speaking to the media at her residence in Hyderabad on Thursday, she said that the BJP government promised twice in its election manifesto about the aid Women's Reservation Bill and could not fulfill it. She said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks about 'Nari Shakti' from Red Fort. But in reality, he does nothing for women's empowerment. The BJP enjoys a majority in the Parliament. If they could push and pass the three black farm laws, they can certainly push for and pass the women's reservation bill if they are willing to do the same".
Highlighting the BJP's manifesto for the 2014 and 2019 general elections, Kavitha urged the BJP to act upon their promises and table the women's reservation bill in this parliament session or the next one.
"BRS Party, under the leadership of CM KCR passed a resolution on women reservation and stated that whenever Lok Sabha passes the bill, BRS will support it. The CM also proposed an alternate solution wherein he suggested an increment in the number of MP seats by 33% to accommodate women to address the insecurities of leaders and parties and pave the way for the peaceful passing of the Women's Reservation Bill," Kavitha added.
Speaking on the Adani issue, MLC Kavitha said that when anybody reminds BJP of its failures, all the institutions are suddenly activated against that voice. "But why are the BJP Government and institutions silent on Adani issues despite several reports? Were LPG rates increased to divert attention from Adani's issue"? she questioned.
Further, responding to comments made by Telangana BJP President Bandi Sanjay, she said, "Leaders like Bandi Sanjay admire bulldozer raj, and double engines sarkar that are actually 'failed' engines. There can be no comparison of Telangana with any other state. We have out-performed many states, which is why not just me, nobody takes Bandi Sanjay seriously".
