Speaking to the media, Sharmila said, "For the past 223 days, I along with my party leaders and representatives have been holding a peaceful padayatra to highlight the plight of various sections of people in Telangana. Our rising popularity has jolted Chief Minister KCR and his party men who want to stop me at any cost. It is highly unfortunate that some police officers are siding with the ruling party and disrupting our efforts to reach the people and raise their issues."
At the public meeting in Narsampet on Sunday, Sharmila criticised the MLA of the constituency for the lack of facilities in the area and said, "If he comes seeking votes again, hit him with broomsticks." Further criticising the TRS government, she alleged that the TRS in the state and the BJP at the national level have been abusing their positions to promote their political interests. She asserted that the BJP has raised the prices of gas and petrol and KCR has raised RTC charges.
The Praja Prasthanam padayatra has crossed the 3,500-km mark, spreading across 75 Assembly segments in the state. Sharmila has covered 1,863 villages under 208 mandals and 61 municipalities, along with four municipal corporations during the padayatra.
