Hyderabad: Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Telangana Party (YSRTP) chief Y.S. Sharmila on Saturday met Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to submit a memorandum on the worsening law and order situation in Telangana. She appealed to the Governor to write to the authorities concerned and ensure President’s rule is imposed in the state.
Addressing the media, Sharmila slammed Chief Minister KCR for dishonouring democracy and crushing the fundamental rights of the people. She said, “There is no democracy in the state. While the Indian Constitution is followed across the country, KCR’s constitution runs in Telangana. The chief minister and his BRS colleagues are allergic to opposition parties’ interacting with the disgruntled masses, and so are unleashing terror and violence against the parties that are fighting for the people. Is this Afghanistan, and are you Taliban? Just like how stray dogs are attacking children on streets, the BRS goons are attacking us like beasts.”
Continuing her tirade against KCR, she added, “It is shameful that the state is being run in an autocratic way, while you (KCR) have utterly failed in keeping every promise you made. The whole state has turned into a battlefield, from village to the town. It is highly condemnable to recall how a young activist of a political party was attacked and grievously injured, recently. The cops are acting as per your whims, and KCR has let his goons loose on the opposition parties, while the police watch this silently. All through my padayatra, I stood by the people and exposed your atrocities. Unable to bear this response, your colleagues have targeted me in a shabby and inhuman fashion, calling names and often threatening me.”
Alleging that the police are “friends” only with the BRS, she said that no one, whether parties or people, are allowed to raise their voices. “Since this is the election year, the number of attacks is only growing by the day. We are worried that it is impossible to hold fair and impartial elections under this evil regime. Therefore, we demand that President rule be imposed in the state,” she said.
She appealed for a fair election and said, “Since all the sitting MLAs who have looted the state in the last nine years will be back as candidates for the next election, the loot and the booty will be used in the election. We appeal to the people to defeat KCR and save Telangana.”
She added, “Broad daylight murders, attacks on women, and brutality against tribals and farmers, the list of tyrannical acts is endless and there is a complete law and order breakdown in Telangana. There is no section that is safe under KCR’s rule. Look at the alcohol and drug-related crimes. There are no arrests and the rogues are let free.”
Sharmila said the Governor listened patiently and expressed concerns about the prevailing situation. She added that the Governor has assured to look into her demand for President’s rule in the state.
