Hyderabad: Every minute counts when a road accident occurs. In many cases, the difference between life and death comes down to how quickly a victim receives medical attention. With high-speed highways running through Telangana’s Nizamabad district, road crashes are a recurring reality.

To reduce preventable deaths, the SaveLIFE Foundation, in partnership with Mercedes-Benz India, has upgraded emergency trauma care services in the region under the Zero Fatality Corridor program.

A Critical Gap in Emergency Care

For years, victims of road crashes in and around Nizamabad have faced a major hurdle—delays in receiving critical medical intervention. Many hospitals in the region lack the necessary trauma care infrastructure, making it difficult to stabilize patients before they are transferred to larger medical centers.

Recognizing this gap, SaveLIFE Foundation has equipped the Area Hospital in Armoor with advanced trauma care resources, providing better emergency response for accident victims.

During an event at the hospital on March 6, medical professionals and representatives from the foundation introduced new life-saving interventions aimed at reducing fatalities on Telangana’s roads.

New Equipment to Improve Survival Rates

The newly installed equipment includes tools for airway management, respiratory support, hemorrhage control, and orthopedic care for fractures. These resources will allow doctors to stabilize critical patients at the earliest stages of treatment, increasing their chances of survival.

“The upgradation of emergency care services and equipment by SaveLIFE Foundation is a significant step towards improving the healthcare infrastructure in our district,” said Dr. Ravi Kumar, Medical Superintendent, Area Hospital, Armoor. “With enhanced response capabilities and state-of-the-art equipment, we are not only improving survival rates in critical situations but also empowering our healthcare professionals to provide better care to those in need.”

The Push for Safer Highways

Telangana has seen a growing number of fatal accidents on its highways, with emergency response times often proving insufficient to save lives. The Zero Fatality Corridor initiative focuses on tackling this issue by improving medical preparedness in accident-prone areas.

Piyush Tewari, Founder and CEO of SaveLIFE Foundation, emphasized the importance of timely medical intervention. “Specialized emergency care services are crucial in reducing road crash fatalities. Together with Mercedes-Benz India, we are ensuring quicker, more efficient responses, ultimately saving lives and making our roads safer for all.”

Will More Lives Be Saved?

This initiative highlights a crucial question: Can better-equipped local hospitals reduce the number of road crash fatalities? While upgraded trauma care resources mark a step in the right direction, experts say that sustained efforts, including better road design, faster ambulance response, and increased public awareness, are equally necessary to make highways safer.
