Tirupati rains: TTD stalls entry of pilgrims; three temple pillars affected

Tirupati: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) management has stalled the entry of pilgrims into the temple premises due to the heavy downpour in Tirupati on Thursday.

Kapilatheertham torrent is in full flow forcing the temple management of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to stall the entry of pilgrims.

Three of the temple pillars got affected by the incessant rain. TTD Joint Executive Officer Veerabrahman inspected the Kapileswara Swamy temple and immediately instructed the officials concerned to restore the affected pillars. The pillars were also restored immediately.

Later, he also inspected Srinivasam Rest House and interacted with the devotees who were stranded due to the closure of both Ghat roads (Alipiri) as well footpath routes following inclement weather conditions. He also instructed the officials concerned to provide Annaprasadam to the stranded pilgrims in the rest house.

Tirupati bore the brunt of heavy rains that battered parts of south coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema region since Thursday morning under the influence of depression in the Bay of Bengal.

The depression is likely to cross the coast between Chennai and Puducherry, south of Andhra Pradesh, in the early hours of Friday. Under its influence, Nellore, Chittoor, Kadapa, Anantapur, and parts of Prakasam district were also battered by heavy rains.
