18YO jumps to death from 4th floor in Vizag after failing Naval entrance exam

Visakhapatnam: An 18-year-old youth died by suicide in the Sriharpuram area here on the night of 6 January after he failed to qualify for the Indian Navy exam. Vaibhav Singh, who is from Delhi, jumped from the fourth floor of a building.

The Vizag city police received information about the incident at around 2.30 a.m on Thursday. Vaibhav had appeared for the selection of Technical Entry Service (TES) and was staying at his uncle's flat in Sriharipuram.

The Malkapuram police station inspector, Kuna Durga Prasada Rao, said Vaibhav had cleared the first four rounds of the selection process but had failed the fifth round. His relatives said that Vaibhav was a brilliant student and that he had also got a seat in IIT Rourkela. However, he wanted to join the Navy and ended his life when he failed the selection process, they added.

The police took the youth's body to King George Hospital for post-mortem. They have launched a probe into the incident.
