Armed burglars attack family; loot gold, cash in Vizag district
By Newsmeter Network Published on 23 Nov 2020 6:15 AM GMTVisakhapatnam :A heavily armed gang of burglars attacked a family and decamped with gold and cash in Chodapalle village of Achyutapuram Mandal in Visakhapatnam on Saturday night. The house owner and his son were injured in the attack.
Circle inspector of Yellamanchili K Narayana Rao said a group of six unidentified miscreants allegedly attacked the family and decamped with around 10 tolas of gold, 8 tolas of silver and Rs.80,000 cash.
The robbers tied the inmates with ropes and threatened to kill them. Two of the three injured inmates have been shifted to Anakapalle corporate hospital for treatment.
Giving details, the CI said the six unidentified persons stormed the house of Sita Ramayya at Chodapalle around night. Sita Ramayya's wife Kumari, who was in the verandah of the house, was gagged and tied with ropes. They later allegedly snatched the gold ornaments from her.
Later, they entered the house and beat up both Sita Ramayya and his son Satyanarayana with iron rods. Threatening them at knife-point to remain silent, miscreants looted cash and other valuables.
After the burglars left, the injured Satyanarayana came out of the house and raised an alarm. Locals later shifted them to the corporate hospital at Anakapalle.
The circle inspector said the gang members could be local as they spoke Telugu with a local accent.
There were three such incidents in the past in the same police circle and all have been solved. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
