ASR: Class V student allegedly raped, murdered; admin exhumes body to unravel mystery

Visakhapatnam: Police and the revenue department exhumed the body of a 12-year-old tribal girl after new evidence pointed to rape and murder.
The body was exhumed in a remote village of GK Veedhi Mandal in the ASR district and viscera was sent for forensic examination.
The victim was a Class-V student at a government school. Police suspected that the 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by an 18-year-old youth in the victim’s house on January 2 when her parents were busy harvesting their produce on the outskirts of the village.
When they returned home from work around 9 am, they were shocked to see their daughter's body. They thought she might have died by suicide and did not inform the police. Later they approached the elders of the village and as per their instructions, they buried the body on the same day.
One of the family members of the victim observed some injury marks on the girl’s neck, but he also did not raise the doubt during burial. A day after the death, two girls, who happened to be friends of the victim, disclosed that a youth entered the house of the girl when she was alone and sexually assaulted her.
Parents immediately approached the GK Veedhi police station. On Saturday, a team of medical experts conducted an autopsy on the body while the police launched a search to nab the accused.
