CBI books Vizag IRS official in Rs. 3 crore disproportionate assets case

The sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday booked a revenue service official and accountant member of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Visakhapatnam, on allegations of possessing disproportionate assets.

Vishakapatnam: The sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday booked an Indian Revenue Service(IRS) official and accountant member of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Visakhapatnam, on allegations of possessing disproportionate assets.

It was alleged that Dasi Sadhu Sunder Singh had acquired assets to the tune of around Rs. 3,51,58,882 which were disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The CBI investigation during 2008-2018 found that Singh had acquired immovable and movable assets worth Rs. 4,71,82,689 in his name and the names of his family members.

The CBI conducted searches at the offices and residential premises of Singh and his relatives at Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad. They recovered Rs. 4.42 lakh and certain incriminating documents. A sum of Rs. 3.70 lakh was also recovered during the searches from other persons. An investigation is on.
