The burglary took place at a well-known resort near Rushikonda beach when the family members of the bride were asleep.
As per reports, both bride and bridegroom family members stayed at the Sai Priya Resorts near Rushikonda with the marriage scheduled for 24 December 11 am.
The police said that the bridegroom is the son of a Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) in Vizag rural and the bride is a software engineer of Thotada Sirasapalli village in Munagapaka mandal in Visakhapatnam district.
The family members and relatives of both families were busy with marriage works till 12 am on Wednesday night. Room 301 was not closed properly which helped the burglars in stealing the ornaments.
The family members of the bride and groom have alerted the PM Palem police about the incident and based on their complaint, a police team, led by Inspector A. Ravi Kumar, visited the spot. He said that though the resort has CCTV cameras, the entrance of the room was not caught on tape.
The police are examining all the CCTV footage at the resort and its surrounding areas to identify the culprits.
