Visakhapatnam: PM Palem police and the City Task Force have busted Pakistan Super League cricket betting racket and arrested four bookies from a flat at Celebrity Towers in Panoroma Hills on Saturday night.

However, the kingpin in the racket Chebolu Srinivas is still absconding. The bookies were betting on Pakistan Super League (PSL) T-20 matches

The arrested persons were K Ravi Kumar, T Dhanunjay, and V Rambabu, all residents of Vizag city and M Sivaji, a native of Srikakulam.

Inspector of PM Palem, A Ravi Kumar said that Chebolu Srinivas alias Cable Srinu employed four persons for organizing the cricket betting operations from the flat in Vizag city.

The gang has been indulging in PSL-T-20 betting since the tourney started on June 9. They collected bets from punters for the match between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi. All transactions were made online using mobile phones and the cricket line guru app. Around 30 punters had placed the bets.

The gang also used to cheat bookies by fudging ratings.

Srinu collected bets from punters through e-wallets with the help of his other associates.

Following a tip-off, the police raided a house in which the gang was collecting bets for the match. Police seized Rs 1,590 cash, some electronic devices, phones, TVs, and few other accessories from the gang.
