TDP MLA fails to turn up at Saibaba temple; YSRCP MLA terms it `admission of guilt

Visakhapatnam: A high drama was witnessed at Saibaba Temple on Sunday when Anakapalle MLA Gudivada Amaranth and a large number of YSRCP activists waited for Visakha East MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu of TDP to swear to Lord in a bid to prove that he was not involved in the land grab in the Vizag region.

After waiting for an hour, Amarnath and his followers left the premises announcing that the TDP MLA admitted his guilt of grabbing government land by failing to turn up at the temple.

Allegations and counter-allegations flew after the revenue and GVMC personnel vacated the 290 square yard government land near Rushikonda and 40 acres of land in Mudasarlova, opposite to Central Jail.

Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy released a list of government land allegedly grabbed by TDP MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu.

Reacting to the list, Velagapudi Ramakrishna said he was ready to swear to the god he did not grab any government land and challenged Vijay Sai Reddy to do the same.

``Vijay Sai Reddy is too big a man for Velagapudi and hence we came to Saibaba temple and waited for him for hours with all the evidence of his land grab,'' Amarnath told reporters.

Amarnath said the government has enough evidence to nail the TDP urban MLA and the SIT report would further strengthen his indictment and enough to send him to jail.

``Velagapudi will go to jail. It is a certainty,'' the Anakapalle MLA told the reporters.

Earlier, a huge rally was taken out from the YSR statue at the Park Hotel junction to Saibaba temple in East Point Colony led by Amarnath and party workers. They raised slogans against Velagapudi Ramakrishnababu. Police personnel were deployed in good numbers to prevent any untoward incident.
