The stadium has proved lucky for Team India as they have won most of the matches here.
Cricket buffs hope India will record its first victory in the ongoing series here today. India lost the first two T-20 matches of the series against South Africa.
The wicket at the ACA-VDCA Stadium is known to be batsman-friendly, and fans are expecting the home team to make the most of it.
The stadium has been a happy hunting ground for Team India. It has won both Test matches played at this venue, and won seven out of ten One-Day Internationals hosted here, with one being tied and another abandoned due to rain.
Of the three T20 matches hosted at this venue, one was abandoned due to rain in 2012. India defeated Sri Lanka in the second one played in 2016. The third T20 did not go India's way, with Australia winning it in 2019.
However, cricket buffs would miss the batting and bowling of the star cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah, who have been rested for this series. The cricket buffs anticipate some big hitting from Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, and Hardik Pandya.
"Vizag stadium is known for Run-Feast. So, we are expecting superb innings from the batsmen from both India and South Africa. It seems that the Vizag match will be thrilling for fans," said M Razee, a cricket buff in Vizag city.
T-20 Record in Vizag
The Indian cricket team has a mixed record at this ground in the shortest format, winning one against Sri Lanka and suffering one defeat (Australia). One T20I match against New Zealand was abandoned in 2012.
