Police sources said the accused B, Appalaraju used a grass-cutting sickle to hack them to death. He has been taken into custody. Appalaraju and Bommidi Ramana's family were at loggerheads.
Visakhapatnam Assistant Commissioner of Police (West) V Sripad Rao said the gruesome incident might have happened around 6 am on Thursday.
"The victims were found lying in a pool of blood at their home. Appalaraju is a neighbor of the deceased and he committed the heinous crime over a dispute between the two families." ACP Sripad Rao said.
He said that a dispute had occurred back in 2018 involving Vijay, and the daughter of the accused.
The victims include Vijay's wife, children, father, and aunts, the ACP said.
Some of the locals said there was also a property dispute between the two neighbors. Earlier, police had registered a case against Vijay.
"Since the altercation in 2018, the two families have not been on talking terms. The crisis deepened and led to this incident," he added.
A team has been formed to probe into the incident and find the motive behind the murder.
