Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) will be signing Rs 45,000 crore worth MoUs during the Maritime India Summit being held in virtual mode from March 2 to March 4.

The event is being organized by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the Summit. Nearly 20,000 delegates from 42 countries are expected to take part.

The session on `Port led industrialization: Building Port cities and Maritime Clusters' will be jointly convened by Visakhapatnam Port Trust and Chennai Port Trust with the support of Chairmen, JNPT, DPT, and Kolkata on March 3.

Kamolsak Promprayoon, Port Authority of Thailand, Ki-chan Nam, Busan Port Authority, Jose Firmo, Port of Acu, Brazil, Vincent De Saedeleer, Port of Zeebrugge, Belgium, Sanjay Sharma from Arcelor Mittal, Bhushan Kumar, joint secretary, Ministry of Shipping, Ports, and Waterways will take part in the deliberations

A special session for investment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh is scheduled on March 3 in which Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will participate.

"Various investment opportunities available for development of Ports and Maritime related activities in Andhra Pradesh are likely to be showcased in the special session as well as in the digital pavilion," said Visakhapatnam Port Trust Chairman R Ramamohan Rao.

He asked the port users, stakeholders, and general public to take note of the developments taking place in the Indian maritime sector and availability of large-scale employment opportunities.

He said a curtain-raiser for the event is scheduled on February 24 at Kalavani Banquet Hall, Port Stadium, Akkayyapalem, and Visakhapatnam involving stakeholders, PPP operators, State Administration, Port users, AP Chamber of Commerce, CII, and other agencies.
