Visakhapatnam: A woman's illicit affair with a married man led to the murder of her three-year-old daughter in Visakhapatnam, the police have found. They arrested the woman's lover Bora Jagadish (28) on Saturday.
The victim, Sindhu Sri, was the daughter of B. Ramesh and Varalakshmi. The couple was separated and Sindhu was living with her mother at Marikavalasa under PM Palem police station limits in Vizag city. Recently, Varalakshmi had started an illicit relationship with Jagadish, a married man with two children.
On 1 June, Sindhu allegedly suffered from fever and was admitted to a private hospital at Madhurawada where she was declared dead. Jagadish buried her body and Varalakshmi reportedly informed her husband Ramesh about their daughter's death on 2 June.
Ramesh became suspicious and approached the PM Palem police and lodged a complaint accusing Varalakshmi and Jagadish of murdering Sindhu. The police registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC (suspicious death) and exhumed the girl's body and sent it for post-mortem.
According to the police, Jagadish did not like Varalakshmi spending time with her daughter. The couple had also run out of money and were suffering a financial crisis. On 1 June, Varalakshmi went to get some money but her efforts proved futile. Jagadish grew frustrated and started assaulting young Sindhu. The girl fainted and died. He then buried her body. Jagadish later confessed to the crime to the police. He was arrested and sent to judicial remand.
