Warangal: A grandson stored the body of his deceased grandfather in a refrigerator as he had no money to perform his last rites at Parkal in Warangal Urban district on Thursday.
Ninety-three-year-old Balaiah, a retired employee, and his grandson V Nikhil were living in a rented house. Balaiah's wife had died of Covid-19 around three months back. The trio has been living on the pension of Balaiah
Since Nikhil had no money to perform the last rites, he stored the body of his grandfather in the fridge. He had died three days ago due to ill health.
On Thursday, neighbors complained of a foul smell coming from the house and informed the police. Police arrived at the spot and registered a case of suspicious death.
