Reserve Inspector sustains injury in gun misfire at State police academy

Hyderabad: A Reserve Inspector, with the armed Telangana State Special Police, sustained a bullet injury in his left thigh on Tuesday. The weapon in a trainee sub-inspector's hand misfired and the EI, Vinod, 40, who was monitoring the firing practice at Raja Bahadur Venkata Rama Reddy Telangana State Police Academy, near Gandipet, was injured in the incident.

Hailing from Guntur district, Vinod entered the police force in 1996. He was under training at the Academy along with his colleagues for the last few days. On Tuesday, when the trainee SIs were practising at the firing range inside the Academy, the weapon misfired and the bullet pierced through his thigh.
