Hyderabad: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officers arrested a man for smuggling gold worth Rs 6,664,000. The detained individual carried around 1.7 kg foreign-marketed gold, said DRI officials.

Investigations revealed that he arrived at Hyderabad in a bus, and the DRI officials, based on their intelligence inputs, seized him near Charminar. He later confessed to carrying smuggled gold, especially as he didn’t have valid documents to prove ownership.

The DRI officials in November seized gold worth Rs 1.99 crore from a parked car in the premises of Shenoy Hospitals in Secunderabad. They two accused were carrying the yellow metal in a hidden compartment created beneath the hand brake of the vehicle.
