Sangareddy cop nailed for misbehaving with suicide victim’s parents

Hyderabad: Sangareddy police at the center of a controversy after a police man was seen kicking the father of a suicide victim, registered a case against the student leaders, who staged a protest in support of the girl’s parents.

They were charged under Sections 353 and 341 of the IPC, alleging that they obstructed police from discharging their duties. Police also served notices to them, asking them to appear for questioning in connection with the protest and also to assure that they will not be involved in any such offences again.

Meanwhile in an official release, police stated that Sandhya Rani who was pursuing Intermediate first year in Narayana Junior college, Velimala village, Patancheru mandal committed suicide in the college premises and a case has been registered in BDL Bhanoor police station on the complaint of her father. The body has been kept in the mortuary at government hospital, Patancheru for post-mortem.

On Wednesday, her relatives tried to take the body to the college where she had committed suicide. In this process, police constable Sridhar behaved in a high-handed manner with the girl’s father.

“The entire police department has regretted the behaviour of the constable and he has been attached to AR headquarters Sangareddy and a disciplinary action will be initiated against him after a detailed enquiry on the incident”, the release said.
