Sarath city mall slapped fine of Rs 17 lakh for illegal advertisment

Hyderabad: Sarath city capital mall in Miyapur has been fined Rs 17 lakh for illegal advertisement. This is the highest fined imposed against a single entity in the recent times.

The office of the Director of Enforcement and vigilance issued a notice to Sarath City capital mall citing 17 violations. The officials acted based on a complaint raised by activist Vinay Vangala.

"Most of the commercial establishments are putting up the LED lighting/unauthorised advertisements causing inconvenience to the commuters passing by, it is not only causing inconvenience but also affecting their eyes and distracting the driving attention. Hope the commercial establishments understand this and join hands together for a better and safer Hyderabad." said, activist Vinay Vangala.

While acting upon Vangala's complaint, GHMC has compounded with an amount of Rs 17 lakh.

“It is found that without written permission of the competent authority you (mall management ) have erected advertisement. The use of illumination with brightness more than allowing limit” the office said.

Earlier the GHMC imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on GVK One Mall, Banjara Hills, and a fine of Rs 16.5 lakh on Forum Sujana Mall, Kukatpally, for erecting advertisement banners illegally.

"It's a good sign that some establishments owners are admitting their mistake, switching off and apologizing for the inconvenience caused as soon they realised it's a violation. We need that "Parivarthan" in the society. Thanks to EVDM & Team for actioning on the citizens complaints on time," added, Vinay Vangala.
