Hyderabad, December 7: Health Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday said a 200-bedded gynecology department will be established at NIMS to aid the women facing issues of high-risk pregnancies.
Rao inaugurated several new facilities including Endoscopic Equipment, MRU Lab, Stem Cell Research Facility, Physiotherapy Department, Bone Densitometer, Sample Transport System, and Water ATMs at the NIMS. The government has spent Rs 12 crore to create new facilities.
Speaking to the media, Rao said that a genetic laboratory for modifying inherited genetic defects has been made available to the public at NIMS. Besides, a pneumatic tube system, bone density meter, and a research unit have also been set up at NIMS.
"In the past, it was difficult to find a bed in NIMS. KCR wants to strengthen NIMS," he said.
He said that 200 new ICU beds will be set up. This is in addition to the existing 155 ICU beds. Additional 120 ventilators will be provided. Currently, 89 ventilators are available.
Rao said under Arogyasri, bone marrow transplantation is being offered free of cost at NIMS.
Heads sought new equipment in their respective departments.
In a meeting, it was decided to set up a 200-bedded gynecology department at NIMS to aid the women facing issues of high-risk pregnancies.
Rao also urged the hospital authorities to arrange meals for Rs.5.
On Omicron, Harish Rao confirmed that there are no cases of Omicron detected in Telangana so far.
