AIG BioDesign summit: CM Revanth says State will share historical medical data with innovators

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said Hyderabad is transitioning from being a centre of manufacturing to a hub of innovation in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and medical technology.

He was speaking at the Biodesign Innovation Summit held at AIG Hospitals in the city on Sunday, where he assured government backing for research and development in healthcare solutions.

‘Use our intelligence for our people’

Addressing innovators, researchers and clinicians, the Chief Minister underlined the importance of developing indigenous medical products tailored to India’s needs.

“For many years, our best minds were solving problems of other countries. It is a good thing. The time has now come when we must use our intelligence to help our people,” he said.

Govt will share medical data with innovators

CM Revanth announced that historical medical data available in Telangana will be shared with innovators for research, while stressing that strict privacy safeguards will be maintained.

“We will connect you to academic institutions, research, innovation bodies, the Young India Skills University and corporations,” he said.

‘Medical devices central to Telangana’s life sciences’

The event, hosted by AIG Hospitals, focused on BioDesign, a methodology that identifies unmet clinical needs and develops practical healthcare solutions, from device creation to clinical validation and scaling through manufacturing.

Congratulating AIG Hospitals Chairman Dr Nageshwar Reddy for the initiative, the Chief Minister said medical devices and technology are becoming central to Telangana’s life sciences sector.

Investments in diagnostic devices, imaging technologies, implants, surgical equipment and digital health solutions are already shaping Hyderabad’s position as a MedTech hub.

Medical Devices Park at Sultanpur

The Chief Minister pointed to the Medical Devices Park at Sultanpur, described as India’s largest dedicated park for the sector, where over 60 domestic and global companies are operational. “It has the infrastructure for research, prototyping, testing and manufacturing,” he said.

CM Revanth linked the focus on life sciences and MedTech innovation to the state’s long-term economic targets. “By 2034, Telangana will become a $1 trillion economy and by 2047, a $3 trillion state,” he said.

Hyderabad hub for startups and global corporations

Telangana’s life sciences industry has grown rapidly in recent years, with Hyderabad attracting both startups and global corporations. The Chief Minister noted that the synergy of academic institutions, industry, and skilled workforce is central to the State’s innovation drive.
