Hyderabad: Telangana finance and health minister T. Harish Rao said the state government is making arrangements to find a permanent solution to avoid delay in payment of salaries to house surgeons, junior doctors, senior resident doctors as well as staff working in the sanitation department and other contract and outsourced staff and nurses in the health department.
He said payments were being made through the manual bill system till now due to which there was a delay. The minister has directed officials of the finance and health departments to make payments online to avoid this.
Mr. Rao held a review meeting with health secretary Rizvi, family welfare commissioner Shweta Mahanti, Medical Policy Council commissioner Ajay Kumar, finance secretary Ronald Ross, and other officials at the BRK Bhavan on 30 June.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rao said he wanted to ensure timely payment of salaries to outsourced and contract staff working in the health ministry. He directed the departments concerned to suspend the policy of manual bills that are causing delays and instructed them to immediately set up an online policy, coordinated by the ministry of finance and health, to pay the salaries each month.
