Health Minister orders Sanathnagar TIMS project completion by October-end
Hyderabad: Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha has issued a strict directive to R&B officials to ensure the Sanathnagar TIMS (Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences) hospital is fully completed by the end of October. This move is in line with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s suggestion to open the hospital to the public by the year’s end.
Preparations for opening
The Minister has taken proactive steps to guarantee the hospital can be operational immediately upon completion.
He instructed Health Secretary Christina Z Chong to procure all necessary equipment and furniture in advance.
Rajanarsimha emphasised that all diagnostic equipment should be of advanced technology and that the opinions of departmental doctors must be considered during the purchasing process.
Furthermore, DME Narendra Kumar has been tasked with the immediate appointment of doctors, nurses, and other medical staff to ensure the facility is fully manned from its opening day.
Review meeting highlights
The directives were issued during a review meeting held by the Minister with senior R&B and health officials at the secretariat on Friday.
The meeting covered the progress of several key projects:
- Sanathnagar, LB Nagar and Kothapet TIMS Hospitals
- NIMS Hospital expansion project
- Warangal Super Speciality Hospital
- New medical colleges
Officials informed the Minister that the Sanathnagar construction is in its final stage.
However, the completion of the Alwal and LB Nagar TIMS hospitals is expected to take another six months. The Minister stressed the need for R&B and Health Department officials to work in coordination to avoid any delays in the Sanathnagar project.
Other infrastructure updates
The meeting also addressed other major health infrastructure developments:
NIMS Expansion: The Minister inquired about the project's progress and instructed officials to ensure that hostel facilities for postgraduate students are included.
Warangal Super Speciality Hospital: R&B officials were directed to complete the construction of this facility by the end of this year.
Medical Colleges: R&B officials announced that the buildings for the new Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Jangaon, and Wanaparthi Medical Colleges will be handed over within the next two months. Work on the remaining new colleges is expected to conclude in eight months.
