Health Minister Raja Narasimha distributes appointment letters to 1,257 lab technicians

Hyderabad: Appointment letters for 1,257 Grade-II lab technicians were distributed by health minister C Damodar Raja Narasimha at Osmania Medical College Grounds in Koti on Tuesday.

The Health Minister was accompanied by Transport Minister Poonam Prabhakar and MP Anil Yadav as they handed over the orders to the selected candidates.

Minister Narasimha said, “This is the largest recruitment drive in the Telangana health department.”

Data on recruitment in health departments

The recruitment was spread across various departments within the health sector. It included:

DME (Director of Medical Education): 764 posts

DPH (Director of Public Health): 300 posts

TVVP (Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad): 180 posts

MNJ Cancer Hospital: 13 posts

Minister Raja Narasimha highlighted that while the notification was released on September 11, 2024, the entire process, including exams for 23,323 candidates, was completed by November 2025.

During his address, the Minister emphasised the evolving role of diagnostics in modern healthcare. “In the past, treatment was based on symptoms. Today, treatment begins only after a diagnosis. Lab technicians provide the reports that doctors rely on; you are the eyes and ears of the medical system. Accuracy is paramount, and it is your responsibility to bring government labs up to NABL standards.”

Employment Roadmap

The Minister provided a comprehensive update on the government’s employment initiatives over the last two years:

Jobs filled in the health dept: 9,572

Jobs to be filled by March: 7267

New notifications: 996 vacancies

Additional proposals for approvals: 2,344

Overall, the Minister noted that under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership, the government has filled over 70,000 positions across various sectors in the last two years.

Vision for ‘Arogya Telangana’

Beyond recruitment, the Minister outlined several key healthcare achievements and future goals:

Infrastructure: Foundation stone laid for the new Osmania Hospital building.

Financial Aid: Aarogyasri limit increased to Rs 10 lakh.

Specialised Care: Establishment of NCD clinics in every district, cancer day care centres, and ‘Maithri’ clinics for transgender persons.

Innovative Services: Free IVF services were introduced at Gandhi Hospital.

Healthcare policy: A new health policy for Telangana is set to be formulated and implemented soon to further strengthen secondary healthcare.
