Hyderabad: Aerobiosys Innovations Private Limited, a Hyderabad-based start-up, has launched a smart ventilation system called Jeevan Lite. The smart IoT-based ICU ventilator was inaugurated for public use by Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan. Dr. Satheesh Reddy, DRDO chairman, Dr. B.V.R Mohan Reddy, chairman of BoG, IITH, Prof. B.S Murty, director of IITH along with other officials from the state, district, and IITH community attended the inauguration on Thursday.
The outbreak of COVID-19 led to a huge demand for ventilators as infected patients, especially those with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), were in dire need of the life support system to aid their respiratory functions. Aerobiosys Innovations was co-founded in 2019 by two young Biodesign Innovation fellows of the Center for Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CfHE), IITH.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan said IITH's efforts to support innovation like Jeevan Lite to indigenising the medical device will improve the healthcare facilities for the public. "Be happy and healthy and follow a good lifestyle and increase innovations, inventions, and immunity so that we can fight future problems. IITH will use its TIP (Technology Innovation Park) to increase its TRP (Technology Research Park)," she added.
Rajesh Yadav, the CEO and co-founder of Aerobiosys, announced they would hand over the first 10 units to the government of Telangana and Puducherry.
Congratulating IITH and Aerobiosys for achieving this milestone, Dr. Satheesh Reddy said, "We will extend all required support to IITH to be a world-class institute for innovation in technology". Dr. B.V.R Mohan Reddy said the future will be about healthcare, smart mobility, communication, sustainable business, and Space.
