Hyderabad: Dr. Prabhukumar Challagali, senior physician and President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Banjara Hills branch, Hyderabad, has been recognized by the Commonwealth Medical Association (CMA) for his contributions to healthcare and humanitarian service.

Dr. Challagali, who has also served as Chairman of Anti-Quackery for the Telangana State Indian Medical Association, has conducted over 5,000 medical camps and awareness programs, reaching underserved communities across Telangana and beyond.



Recognition of Extensive Community Service

The Commonwealth Medical Association selected Dr. Challagali for his extensive commitment to public health education and outreach. His work has spanned a range of health issues, focusing on preventative care and awareness, especially in rural areas where access to healthcare is limited.

Jayalal, the President of the Commonwealth Medical Association, commended Dr. Challagaliā€™s dedication, stating, ā€œDr. Challagaliā€™s tireless efforts in community health and education have set an example within the medical field. Leading Medical Emergency and Rehabilitation in Manipur

Dr. Challagaliā€™s commitment extended to crisis zones, including last yearā€™s unrest in Manipur. During this period, he organized medical emergency services and spearheaded rehabilitation efforts to assist communities affected by the violence. Amid challenging and life-threatening situations, Dr. Challagali and his team provided critical care to injured civilians while promoting peace and encouraging community resilience.

Reflecting on the experience, Dr. Challagali shared, ā€œOur goal was to ensure medical assistance reached those in need during the unrest in Manipur. Facing threats was a reality, but providing healthcare in such situations is vital to restoring stability and peace.ā€

Dr. Challagaliā€™s achievement was hailed as a proud moment for the Telugu-speaking community. Indian Medical Association expressed their happiness over this feat.

Dr. Narayanasamy, Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, noted, ā€œDr. Challagaliā€™s work not only benefits his local community but elevates the Indian medical community on an international level. International Ceremony in Chennai

The ceremony, held on November 9 and 10 in Chennai, brought together leaders from 56 Commonwealth countries, including prominent figures from the Indian Medical Association. The event underscored Dr. Challagaliā€™s enduring impact on public health and the significance of his contributions.
