Hyderabad: Osmania University's Shivani Chilukuri and Dr. A. Vijaya Bhasker Reddy have been granted a patent for creating intricate pollen-based motifs in textile designs.

Patent Office, Government of India, granted the patent for their invention entitled `A Method of Paragamanjari to Integrate Pollen Motifs in Textile Industry’.

About the Paragamanjari Method

The Paragamanjari method uses concepts from palynology, the study of pollen grains, to create intricate pollen-based motifs in textile designs. It combines botanical science with textile technology, offering new opportunities for sustainable, nature-inspired fashion and fabric aesthetics.

Swift Patent Approval

The application for the patent was filed on 13 September 2024 and received official grant on 7 August 2025, marking completion in just 11 months. The approval reflects the novelty, scientific merit, and industrial potential of the invention.

Research

The research was conducted at the Palynology and Plant Systematics Laboratory, Department of Botany, Osmania University.
