Doctors at KIMS Saveera Anantapur successfully remove lemon-sized brain tumour

Anantapur: A 58-year-old woman suffering from a massive brain tumour, nearly the size of a lemon (over 5 cm), has found relief after a complex 5-hour surgery performed by doctors at KIMS Saveera Hospital, Anantapur.

Due to the tumour, she had been experiencing severe headaches, dizziness and difficulty walking for the past year. After a successful surgery, she is now completely relieved of her symptoms.

Tumour diagnosed among critical blood vessels

KIMS Saveraā€™s consultant neurosurgeons, Dr Anil and Dr Murali, shared details of the case: ā€œAdinarayanamma, a 58-year-old woman from Pulivendula in YSR Kadapa district, was diagnosed with a 5 cm tumour in the frontal region of her brain. She had been suffering from persistent headaches, dizziness and difficulty walking for almost a year. After a detailed MRI scan, we identified the tumour as tentorial meningioma, which was in a highly complex and deep region of the brain. Removing such tumours is extremely challenging due to their location among critical blood vessels.ā€

With the availability of advanced neuro ICU facilities and state-of-the-art neurosurgery equipment at KIMS Saveera, the team took up the challenge.

ā€œWe performed a high-risk, complex brain surgery that lasted for about five hours. Successfully removing such a deep-seated tumour is a rare achievement. Post-surgery, the patient has completely recoveredā€”her headaches are gone, she can walk normally and she has resumed her daily activities. Previously, she was unable to perform even routine household tasks for a year due to her condition. This is the first time in Anantapur district that such a large tumour, located in a highly delicate area of the brain, has been successfully removed,ā€ said Dr Anil and Dr Murali.

With a dedicated neuro-intensive care unit, highly trained staff and round-the-clock availability of advanced medical care, KIMS Saveera is equipped to handle complex neurosurgical cases efficiently.

ā€œWe provide world-class treatments for brain and spinal conditions, ensuring the highest level of care. Emergency services present 24*7 with qualified consultants are available at KIMS Saveera Hospital,ā€ the doctors added.
