Hyderabad: The Telangana government has received an award from the Central government for its efforts to control malaria. Union health minister Manusuk Mandavia presented the award to the officials of the Telangana malaria department at a function held in Delhi on Monday to mark World Malaria Day.
Telangana health minister Harish Rao was elated to receive the award. He congratulated the staff and officials of the medical, panchayat, and municipal departments who had worked hard for this. He said, "With the cooperation of the people and with all your efforts in controlling malaria, the number of cases in the state has significantly reduced and the state has moved from Category-2 to Category-1."
He said that programmes undertaken by the Chief Minister had played an important role in preventing malaria and protecting the people from the clutches of the disease.
